Fair Lady of Chiquinquirá

Tradition relates that, on the shores of Lake Maracaibo appeared a board he found an old woman who took her home. After a few days, November 18, 1709,the old woman heard several knocks on the wall of his house on which was hung a small table. At first ignored these blows, but as they were increasingly insistent, decided to approach the place from whence came the shock and realized that on the surface of the tablet had appeared the image of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá, and it flowed a bright light. Given this phenomenon, the old woman went out and started shouting: "Miracle, miracle ".

The woman told the story to the locals, this title began to worship the Virgin. Later, they decided to build the monument to the Virgin in the exact spot where stood the house of this woman, located opposite the Basilica of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá.

Every year the last Saturday of October, made the descent of the Virgin, down from the altar to result from their people, and to the celbras juento their birthdays.

The celebrations in honor of La Chinita paralyze the work of Zulia. From 17 until 19 November, bullfights, sunrises pipers, the procession for the planchette and the traditional baseball game on November 18, join the people of Maracaibo in a holiday that marks the beginning of the Christmas in the region.

The festivities begin on 17 with a bullfight, followed by Dawn Piper, party where they play throughout the night, groups of pipes and other types of dance music until dawn.
After sunrise, is a typical breakfast that usually includes cakes, pies, and yoyos mandoc that give the energy needed to continue the party at the stadium "Luis Aparicio" where there was a baseball game.
the afternoon, take another bullfight, in addition to parties outside the Church of St. John of God, also called Church of the Chinita where, after the procession of the image, bagpipe groups are singing to her employer .
For several years, the style is holding a second dawn but, of course, depend on the strength and courage that takes. Finally, 19 is made a final run that ends with this show that, once a year exacerbates the spirit of Zulia.

and then we have the lights on the beautiful view, with this we give input to Christmas.
